Volunteer Nanaimo

Selby Street Mission. A home opened during the day as a drop-in centre for Nanaimo's homeless women. Selby Mission is always in need of dependable volunteers to care for the house and guests during the day. To find out more please email us at hello@belovedchurch.ca.

 

Nanaimo Loaves & Fishes. Every month 600+ volunteers help Nanaimo Loaves & Fishes sort and distribute food through their food depot network around Nanaimo. Please CLICK HERE if you are interested in getting involved.

 

Habitat for Humanity. Providing affordable homeownership calls for volunteers on build sites and the ReStore centre. It’s a great chance to give back to the community, make friends, have fun and receive on the job training! Habitat for Humanity has recently launched a 40 hour volunteer program for high school students looking to complete their volunteer requirement. CLICK HERE for how to get involved.

 

The Canadian Red Cross. A non-profit humanitarian organization focused on improving the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. Volunteers help support the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP), which loans health equipment on a short-term basis to those in need. The Nanaimo depot is located at #3-2525 McCullough Road. Client Services Volunteers help greet clients and ensure they receive the support they need!

 

Multicultural Society. Volunteers can help in various roles depending on skills and knowledge and experience. To learn more about volunteering with the Immigrant Welcome Centre, contact Volunteer Services.

 

Nanaimo Foodshare. Being a part of the Foodshare community can include helping in the gardens, volunteering at a cooking or gardening classes for kids, helping with the Good Food Box program, helping at special events, or becoming a member of our Board of Directors. Serve Days are awesome opportunities to come together in your Small Group or join hands with other groups to share Christ's love in our neighborhoods through real and tangible ways.

The best way to get involved is through a Small Group. Find the need in your neighborhood and local communities. Share your creative ideas with your Small Group Leader to see if it is something that can be implemented as a group.
