Life is not meant to be lived out alone. God adopts us into His family, the local church. It's His idea and we love it. We call it City Groups which are small groups where the BeLoved Church family can do life and ministry together as well as grow deeper in faith under the direction and pastoral care of the leadership God has given us.
Everywhere you turn, someone is telling you how to live your life. A lot of times it's well-intentioned and almost true but misses the mark in ways that can hurt us. How do we know which truths will actually lead to a life that is filled with purpose and meaning? You might have heard the saying "Live your truth." We can get into trouble when we define what's true on what sounds or feels right. Instead, Jesus followers, we focus on Jesus, who is our truth.
Pastor Chris kicked off this brand new teaching series called Missing the Mark to offer some keys to help you find freedom by getting to know the truth from God. So, lean in, be real, open your Bibles, get your notebook out, and let's share what God might be saying to you through this series as we SOAP together.
Read aloud in your group, pause, reflect, and listen for what Holy Spirit migh be saying to you through the Word of God.

Q. Which part of this past Sunday's message was most impactful for you and why?
Q As you read 2 Timothy 4:2-4, what are your initial thoughts of feelings about this Scripture? How does it influence how you view what is true?
Q Believing in your own unique truth can be dangerous. Because if truth isn't constant, if truth is relative, if truth changes, then you can see how this can lead us down a very slippery slope. Talk amongst your group about some ways that believing "your truth" can be dangerous.
Q So often what we want to hear is so much different than what we need to hear. Is there an area of your life where "your truth" isn't matching Jesus' truth? What steps do you need to take to die to your truth and live according to The Truth?
Q Pastor Chris raised the question on Sunday. What if your truth is a trap? and then gave us two truths about truth. What thoughts come to mind when we read these two statements?
No.1 - Just because you believe something doesn't make it true. It's so easy to believe that our perspective is the same as truth.
No.2 - Truth isn't just something we believe, but truth is Somone that we follow.
You perspective is valid, your experience is real, your story does matter. But, it doesn't nescessarily mean it is the truth. The truth is a person, the truth is Jesus. When you know Jesus, you know the Truth, and when you know The Truth, the truth sets you free. Are you free? Are you whole? Are you healed? Jesus sets you free. So, the application is very simple. If Jesus' truth is different than what you feel, what you want, what you believe... die to your truth and live according to The Truth, and you will find the freedom from sin that you were originally designed to live free of.
Be intentional. Take a Step.
Lord, thank You for being our steady truth in a world filled with different opinions and ideas. Please show us where we're letting our feelings determine "our truth," instead of allowing Your truth to set us free. In Jesus's name. Amen!
Our heart for you in taking a "Next Step" is to help you grow in becoming more and more like Jesus.
