Why we read the Bible

God is ready and waiting to speak to you through His word, the Bible. In each section of the Bible, we see God’s holy, unchanging, faithful, gracious and loving character. The more we read the Bible, the more we grow in faith, wisdom, and maturity as a follower of Jesus.

Did you know the Bible is the most popular book in the world? Every year over 100 million Bibles are sold or given away. If it was on the bestseller list for the week, it would be the Bible. It's also the most powerful book in the world. It is a love letter from God, to us.

Jump into your Bible today. Start a reading plan. If you miss a day, that's okay, don't give up, just pick up from where you left off.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12

Create a Plan

A fantastic and free resource for Bible reading and devotions is the YouVersion Bible App for your phone. You can choose to connect with other friends who use the app to share devotions and Bible reading with each other.

There are four types of YouVersion Reading Plans;

  1. Reading through the year - read through the Bible, book by book, or all the way through in a set period of time.

  2. Topical - read scripture based on a particular topic along with devotional commentary about scripture.

  3. Book based - studies based around a particular book of the Bible.

  4. Seasonal - associated with a particular season such as Easter or Christmas.

If you're new to Bible reading, we suggest starting with the Gospel of John, and then reading Romans.
